The project includes a variety of features designed to support health and wellbeing of residents and visitors whilst managing flood risk and creating more space for nature in an urban environment. Green infrastructure components includes the creation of pollinator-friendly habitats, additional native tree planting to connect existing woody habitats, wetland mosaic habitat including a large wildlife-friendly pond, and a series of Sustainable Drainage features below paths to retain water on site.

The project is one of a series of interventions - “Green Infrastructure for Growth 2” - designed to enhance green infrastructure in existing urban areas in Cornwall. The policy framework within which the individual projects sit, Making Space for Nature, has been accredited by Building with Nature and the project aims to increase urban biodiversity, improve access to and contact with nature, and engage local communities.
